In a push towards promoting entrepreneurship and employment generation, the Dimapur office of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises – Promotion Council of India (MSME-PCI) was inaugurated on Friday, October 3 at Indisen village by Temjenmenba, MLA and Advisor for Transport and Technical Education.

Speaking at the gathering, Temjenmenba said the opening of the MSME-PCI office in Dimapur would create new opportunities for young people to benefit from various schemes under the MSME and the Government of India. “With the opening of this office here in Dimapur, a lot of the young people will be benefited through the various schemes that the MSME and the Government of India is rolling out to our people,” he stated.

Highlighting the need for alternative employment avenues, Temjenmenba noted that the government sector is “almost saturated” and “overburdened” with employment. He stressed the importance of engaging youth in entrepreneurial and skill-based initiatives.

Referring to the younger generation, particularly those born between 1997 and 2012, he described them as “adaptive, innovative, entrepreneurial, technologically savvy, social media savvy, quite restless and inquisitive.” He added that this generation, popularly known as Gen Z, will play a crucial role in achieving the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

“If our vision of a developed nation by the year 2047 is to be realized, this is the group of people who are going to lead the country tomorrow. And at this juncture, we need to do a lot of interventions at various levels, be it academic, skill, entrepreneurial, or technological,” he said.

Also present at the event were the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, and the Chief Executive Officer of Dimapur Municipal Council, Thungchanbemo Tungoe.

Established in 2008, the MSME Promotion Council of India is a non-profit organization working to support the development and growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises across the country. It provides services including capacity building, market development, technology upgradation, and policy advocacy, while collaborating with government agencies, industry associations, and financial institutions to create a conducive environment for MSMEs to thrive.
