Dimapur, June 19: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) on Friday announced a series of fellowships and scholarships exclusively for students from Nagaland during a curtain raiser press meet held in Dimapur ahead of the Institutional Excellence Award–2026 and Felicitation of NBSE HSSLC Top Achievers–2026.
The programme, scheduled to be held on June 20 at Town Hall, Dimapur, will recognise outstanding educational institutions and honour the top achievers of the NBSE HSSLC examinations.
Addressing the press conference, USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque and Vice Chancellor Prof G.D. Sharma announced a special scholarship package aimed at supporting meritorious and economically disadvantaged students from Nagaland.
According to the university, 50 students from the state will be selected for different categories of financial assistance. Ten exceptional students, including state toppers and high achievers, will receive full scholarships covering their academic fees. Fifteen students will be provided a 50 per cent tuition fee waiver, while 25 students will receive a monthly scholarship of ₹2,000 to help meet their educational expenses.
The scholarship scheme is meant exclusively for fresh applicants from Nagaland seeking admission to USTM. Students securing a minimum of 80 per cent marks in their qualifying examinations and fulfilling the university's prescribed criteria will be eligible for consideration.
The press conference was also attended by Dr Kughatali Aye, Head of the Department of Sociology, USTM, Dr Mhadeno Y. Humtsoe, Assistant Professor, Department of Rural Development, and Dr Lilika K. Zhimomi, Assistant Professor, Department of Rural Development.
The Institutional Excellence Award–2026, one of USTM's flagship academic initiatives, will recognise educational institutions for their contribution to the field of education.
The June 20 programme will be attended by Nagaland Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, along with academicians, education administrators, institutional heads, students and representatives of various educational organisations.
