The North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, will organise the “Rhythms of Freedom – Tiranga Charity Concert” on August 15 at the NEZCC Stone Sculpture Garden in Dimapur.

This was announced by NEZCC Director Alobo Naga during a press conference held in Dimapur on Monday. The concert will be held as part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan and will celebrate India’s 80th Independence Day while raising support for families affected by natural disasters across Nagaland.

Addressing the media, Alobo said the event was more than just a cultural programme and called on the people of Nagaland to come together for a meaningful cause. He said landslides, flash floods and other natural disasters had affected several districts of the state, leaving families displaced, homes damaged and livelihoods disrupted.

“When one part of Nagaland suffers, all of Nagaland stands together,” he said.

The director said several artists have come forward to support the initiative. Among those scheduled to perform are Nise Meruno, Sunep Lemtur, Hentok Konyak, Colored Keys, Lenen Jamir, Kivika Achumi, Cantamus Choir, Tetso College Choir, 5 Minutes Band, Hoiying Walim, Musik-A Voice Teachers and comedian Hopong Naga, along with other surprise guests.

The concert will also feature cultural performances by different communities living in Dimapur, including the Marwari Samaj, Bihari Samaj, Bengali Samaj, Tibetan-Bhutia community, Nepali community, Gorkha Union, Dimasa Union, Punjabi Samaj and Muslim Council.

Alobo said the participation of different communities would reflect the spirit of “Unity in Diversity” and make the Independence Day celebration more inclusive.

The event will also include food stalls by the Nagaland Street Food Vendors Association, beverages from Nagaland Coffee and a Fun Factory children’s zone, making it suitable for families and children.

The entry ticket has been fixed at Rs 100, with 100 per cent of the ticket proceeds to be directed towards supporting families affected by natural disasters across Nagaland. A separate donation campaign will also be available through a QR code for those wishing to contribute.

The event will be managed by Musik-A Events, with Kaki Marketing and Ahibi.in as marketing partners.

Alobo appealed to people to attend with their families and friends and celebrate Independence Day by extending kindness and support to those in need.

The concert will begin at 5 pm on August 15 at the NEZCC Stone Sculpture Garden, Dimapur.
