The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland on Tuesday condemned the alleged police action against students protesting in Ranchi, Jharkhand, over issues related to employment, job scams and paper leaks.

The press conference was led by Basu Damani, State Vice President, BJP Nagaland, at the BJP Dimapur District Office in Dimapur. Other BJP Nagaland leaders were also present.

Addressing the media, Damani said the BJP was deeply concerned over the alleged use of force against students who, according to the party, were holding a peaceful and disciplined protest. He alleged that the Congress-Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government in Jharkhand used barbed wires, tear gas shells, lathi-charge and water cannons against the protesters.

The BJP also alleged that some female students faced harassment during the police action, including claims that their clothes were torn. Damani said the alleged action against students was unacceptable and demanded that the Jharkhand government immediately address the concerns and demands of the protesting youth.

The BJP also questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his response to the situation in Jharkhand. Damani asked why Gandhi, who often speaks about the concerns of students and youth, had not spoken strongly against the alleged action against students in Ranchi.

The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi and the Congress of adopting what it described as a "double standard" on issues concerning students and youth. The party demanded an apology from Gandhi and the Congress to the students.

The press conference also touched upon the ongoing political dispute involving Rahul Gandhi and the functioning of Parliament. The BJP alleged that Gandhi had repeatedly changed his demands, first raising the issue of the Education Minister's resignation, followed by demands for a discussion on NEET and later a statement from the Union Home Minister on the Jantar Mantar incident.

The BJP further criticised Gandhi over his reported claim that bullets were fired at Jantar Mantar. Referring to the claim, Damani said that no bullets had been fired at the site and accused Gandhi of spreading misinformation.

The BJP challenged Gandhi to take part in a debate in Parliament, stating that the Union Home Minister was ready to answer questions on the issues being raised.

The BJP Nagaland maintained that students have the democratic right to raise their concerns and urged the Jharkhand government to listen to the protesting youth and address their demands.
