Nagaland Darts Championship concludes in Dimapur

Dimapur, August 22: The Nagaland Darts Championship 2026 concluded at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, on Saturday, with Director General of Police (DGP) Rupin Sharma calling for greater support for the sport in Nagaland.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Sharma said he hoped darts would receive more support and encouragement in the state. He said the sport has the potential to grow further if players are given better opportunities and support.

The DGP also expressed hope that darts could be introduced at Nagaland Police stations. He said the idea could be considered after discussing it with his officers.

In the championship, Imliwapang Imsong emerged as the winner of the Open Singles category. He also partnered with Kekhrieselie Pienyü to win the Doubles title. In the Rookie Singles category, Kevipfhelie Kevin Rutsa secured first place.

Sharma said promoting sports and providing opportunities for people to take part in them can help develop sporting activities in the state. His remarks also highlighted the possibility of using existing institutions such as the police department to encourage interest in darts.

The two-day Nagaland Darts Championship was held on August 21 and 22 in Dimapur. 

The championship was organised to promote darts and provide a platform for players in Nagaland to compete and improve their skills.

The closing ceremony included the distribution of prizes to the winners. The organisers expressed hope that the championship would help create greater interest in darts and encourage more people, particularly young players, to take up the sport.
