Private College Association Nagaland appeals to state government for grant of special financial stimulus
KOHIMA, 16TH JULY: Private College Association Nagaland, PCAN has appealed to the state government to grant special financial stimulus and also enhance the annual grant-in-aid to private colleges in the state. PCAN in a representation to the chief minister, Nagaland said this will enable the colleges to offer concessions to students during this Covid-19 pandemic as well as maintain full pay to its faculty and staff. PCAN requested the Core Group for Economic Affairs to consider the dire situation and needs of the 44 private colleges of Nagaland that caters to about 23,600 students as compared to 7,400 in 15 Government colleges during 2018-19 in the state. It said that without a special financial dispensation from the state government, private colleges do not have the liquidity to pay their faculty and the staffs as revenue had stopped. PCAN urged the state government and concerned departments to strategies their vision statements, planning and policy decisions to overhaul and upgrade the existing system by taking forward the stakeholders for future posterity.
