Nagaland will host its first NEP 2020 conclave for the northeastern region, with the two-day Education Conclave 2026 scheduled to begin on Friday at J.P. Park & Banquets, Naga United Village, Chümoukedima.

Addressing a press conference at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur, on Thursday, Nagaland Minister for Higher Education and Tourism Temjen Imna Along said the conclave has been organised to facilitate stakeholders in understanding and implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 “in letter and in spirit.”

He said NEP 2020 has brought about a transformative and structural change in the Indian education system and Nagaland, like the rest of the country, has adopted the policy.

Along said the conclave would provide a platform for stakeholders from the Northeast to discuss and deliberate on the challenges of implementing NEP 2020, noting that the states in the region face similar challenges.

The conclave, he said, would also focus on creating a roadmap for the Northeast and identifying strategies for the successful implementation of the policy across the region.

The conclave is being held on the theme “Implementation of NEP 2020: Vision, Challenges & Opportunities for the North Eastern States.” Representatives from the northeastern states will participate in presentations and panel discussions covering higher, technical and school education.

The inaugural session will be held on September 18, with Along listed as the chief host. The conclave will conclude on September 19 with a valedictory function and presentation of the resolutions and outcomes.
