The two-day Education Conclave 2026, focusing on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the northeastern states, began at J.P. Park & Banquets, Naga United Village, Chümoukedima, on Friday, September 18.

The conclave, being hosted by Nagaland for the Northeast region for the first time, is being held on the theme “Implementation of NEP 2020: Vision, Challenges & Opportunities for the North Eastern States.”

Addressing the inaugural session, Nagaland Minister for Higher Education and Tourism Temjen Imna Along thanked the dignitaries and participants who travelled from different states of the Northeast to attend the conclave.

Along said the conclave would facilitate the sharing of ideas and thought processes that could lead to common agendas for the region. He also acknowledged the participants for highlighting the importance of education and its practical aspects.

Describing the participation of leaders in the “transformative policy” as a significant responsibility, Along said it was “indeed brave” for leaders to be part of the conclave. 

The conclave brings together stakeholders from the northeastern states for discussions on the implementation of NEP 2020, with parallel plenary sessions covering higher, technical and school education. State presentations and panel discussions are scheduled as part of the programme.

The conclave will continue on Saturday, with presentations from Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, followed by the valedictory function.
