The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has issued an open letter to the Government of Nagaland, saying the State Government has not acted on its demand for the termination of 109 "backdoor" appointments across 16 departments.

In the letter on October 8, the NSF said it was "dismayed" by the State Government's response to its representation dated April 10, 2025, and its ultimatum dated March 20, 2026. It alleged that the demand had been “willfully ignored.”

The Federation said it had given the government ample time, in good faith and considering the procedural requirements involved in such terminations, even after the ultimatum expired.

It claimed the issue continues to affect students and job aspirants.

The NSF said it has received a circular convening a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Temporary PIMS on October 12 to discuss the ultimatum. The meeting is to be attended by the Deputy Chief Minister (Home & Border Affairs), four Cabinet Ministers, two Advisors, the Chief Secretary and the Home Commissioner (P&AR In charge).

The Federation reiterated that "restoration of meritocracy and transparency" must prevail through the termination of all the appointees concerned.

It also appealed to appointees who are aware of irregularities in their appointments to "exercise moral responsibility" and step down voluntarily, rather than prolong the matter at the cost of Naga youths awaiting opportunities in government employment.

The NSF said it expects "decisive and immediate action" from the State Government. It stated that it would "intensively and extensively" resort to democratic forms of protest if the October 12 meeting fails to address its demands satisfactorily.

It also sought the support and cooperation of the general public.
