The Leo Club of Dimapur concluded the 37th Inter-School Table Tennis Tournament and the 31st Inter-School Slogan Competition with a closing ceremony at Lions Centre, Dimapur, on Sunday.
Kamal Kumar Jain, State Treasurer of the BJP Nagaland, was the Chief Guest. Annie Jain, Chairperson of Dimapur 24/7, was the Special Guest. The events were organised by the Leo Club of Dimapur, the youth wing of the Lions Club of Dimapur (Leo District 322D).
In the table tennis tournament, Yongang Yanna of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School won the boys' singles title, with Chirag Sethi of St. Mary's Higher Secondary School as runner-up. Yimtisenla of Greenwood School, Dimapur, won the girls' singles, with Saranya Mondal of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School as runner-up.
In the boys' doubles, Hanyangsayou Chang and Akithe Yeptho of Little Star Higher Secondary School emerged winners. Vikivi Z. Yeptho and Kivika Sumi of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School were runners-up. In the girls' doubles, Vikili M. Zhimo and Yimtisenla of Greenwood School won, while Saranya Mondal and Kina K. Tuccu of Holy Cross Higher Secondary School finished second.
The slogan competition was held on the theme "AI & Humanity: Shaping the Future Together." Joycee of St. Mary's Higher Secondary School secured first place. Tamanna Ferdous of S.D. Jain Higher Secondary School was second, and Durga Chetry of Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School was third.
Addressing the gathering, Kamal Kumar Jain congratulated the Leo Club of Dimapur on continuing the tournament for 37 years. He said this reflected the club's commitment to promoting sports, encouraging young talent and serving society.
He said sports are not only about winning medals and trophies but also teach discipline, teamwork, patience and the courage to face challenges. He added that participating, learning and never giving up are as important as winning.
Congratulating the winners, he said participants who did not win should treat defeat as an opportunity to learn and return stronger. He also appreciated the organisers, coaches, teachers, parents and volunteers for their role in the tournament.
He expressed hope that the tradition would continue for many more years and called for continued support and opportunities for young people.
