Hekani Jakhalu, MLA and Advisor for Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland, opened the 3 DMP-III Youth AC Futsal cum Job & Career Fair on Friday at Toluvi Village Ground, Dimapur. The event is organised in collaboration with YouthNet, and she was the special guest at the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, she said futsal is only an entry point to what she is focusing on, and that the job and career fair is the larger part of the initiative. About a dozen organisations and departments have been lined up for the fair, covering training, skills, employment, self-employment and other categories.

She said the event was organised entirely by the youth of the constituency, including its finances, for their younger brothers and sisters. The youth team had told her they “would not disturb her” and would do whatever they could on their own, so she did not have to spend any money on it. She thanked the youth wing president and his team and described the event as a “dream come true”.

Also speaking at the ceremony, NPF Dimapur Division President Vihoshe Awomi said development, public involvement and the ability of sports to bring people together are significant work in themselves. He added that people help one another, and that in society and in politics, things go well when the leader is good.

The initiative aims to connect youth of the 3 Dimapur III Assembly Constituency with employment opportunities, skill development programmes, career guidance and self-employment avenues, while encouraging youth participation through sports.
